6-26-11 Andy and I have resumed tracking drums and the raw tracks sound incredible (for a home recording). I started mixing the drum tracks for Breakup At Allen Park and White Flag and they are sounding great. This Wednesday we will try to knock out some more drum tracks. Hopefully we’ll have all the drum parts recorded in around two weeks. After I’ll start recording the many other instruments that make up the songs. I plan on pulling in a cast of great musicians to help me with this project as I want it to be something to write home about. The album is still nameless and coverless at this point, but I’ve narrowed down fifteen tracks that may appear on it. Some of them are carried over from Relics, but most of them are newly penned tunes. I’ll keep you posted on those details as the story develops. Over and out.
3-21-11 I’m Baaaaack! Andy McCoy and I have already begun tracking drums to what will become my second solo album. It will feature around 12 new songs and will feature a lot of talented musicians. We have the drums down for three songs and plan on recording four more drum tracks on Wednesday. More updates about that as the process rolls on. I have also established a connection with Watchmen Studios which means I’ll likely be recording there over the summer for my next project. I always say this, but I’ll try to update more often.
10-8-10 The Mike Brunacini Band is in the works, I have a drummer and guitarist ready to play my songs and I have a few bass players in mind. This will be a solo project, just a full band solo project, which will be very nice. I’ll be recording a full length album in November with my brand new microphones and such. It should sound pretty good. I have a lot of new material on the way and I’m extremely excited to release it. More updates soon.
5-26-10 After a successful spring writing session I’ve begun recording what appears to be my next solo project. I’m not sure if these recordings will ever surface as I intend to play every instrument, including drums, and I’m not quite sure how that will turn out. Either way I’ll either get these recordings to you through a solo release or through the One Eyed Seconds. If not a full solo album, I may just release an EP of songs I feel deserve to be heard. The odd thing is that I’ve been writing and recording some classical guitar pieces (very very simple classical guitar pieces) but they are pretty none-the-less. I hope to get these recordings out soon.
2-18-10 The album has been out for quite some time, but I never updated the site due to laziness, unhappiness, and my involvement in several other bands. You can purchase your copy of the album at cdbaby.com, amazon.com, amazonmp3.com, iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, or through many other online vendors.
10-20-09 I’ve shipped the album out to be manufactured and it will arrive at my doorstep on Halloween. The material has just been registered in the United States Library of Congress, so now I legally own the rights to my own intellectual property. Anyway, I’m quite exited to finally get this material to you. There are now 15 tracks on the album, but you still have your choice of the DVD or the B-Sides disc. The optional bonus disc is only available through me though. Expect a release in early November. Once the copies arrive I will ship them out to various retailers and come up with a release date. The albums page has now been updated once again to reflect the current and final tracklist.
9-18-09 Today is the day of change. This is the culmination of four years of musical labor. This is the day that the Relics From The Past are revealed. Today I announce the upcoming release of my debut album, Relics From The Past. It is a collection of 11 demos that I’ve been working on for around four years. Well, not really. I’ve been writing for four years and these songs represent some of my best work from those four years. I have plenty more up my sleeve, believe me. Even now I am writing new pieces for the next album, whenever that will be. I updated the tracklist on the albums page to reflect the actual release. Also, packaged with this album, you have the choice between two second discs. You can either pick the One Eyed Seconds - Secrets & Lies documentary DVD or the 20 track Relics From The Past B-Sides CD. Either way you’re getting quite the extra feature. In all seriousness this album, as I stated earlier, is more like a demo. I hope that this will get my music out into the world and hopefully get me into a studio to do some serious recordings. I assure you that these recordings are of quality, I mixed and mastered them myself and despite a lack of depth due to the lack of a studio drummer and bass player “except on two tracks”, I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. I will have an official date for this release very shortly. It will most likely be in the next week or two.
9-3-09 After a few months, I finally have the site navigation fixed. I apologize for not really trying to get it done until today. Anywho, over this summer I have written several new pieces and gotten some recordings done. Pessimistic Guy and Picking Daisies are now online, above and to the right of this text. Pessimistic Guy features Jenna Jones on drums, Jon Smeltzer on saxophone, Cody Lassinger on trumpet, and Nick Wiltsie on Trombone, quite a fun arrangement. Picking Daisies was written loosely based on Vanilla Sky and a couple of paintings I purchased at garage sales. It is the first of my songs to feature the new slide guitar I purchased and also features a nifty little guitar solo, something I don’t usually do. I played a few gigs over the summer and one happened to get captured on a personal camera and sent to me. This brings me to the most exciting news yet. One Eyed Seconds - Secrets & Lies, the documentary on the band that nobody loved, is finally going to be released. After years of filming and months of editing, it is finally almost ready for you. More news on that later. I hope to get some new songs written and a ton of demos recorded soon and release them to you on an EP or something of the sort.
6-24-09 I apologize for the lies again my friends. Andy and I will be recording over this summer. There has been a lot of scheduling trouble, but we’re going to get some time in late July or so. The albums will be released and they will be worth the wait, I promise. We’re really putting a lot of work into these. A few new songs have been written, only Dreamer is worth talking about now. It should appear on the second album and is mainly guitar based. Anyway, I will update again as soon as news is in the making.
3-22-09 After a good couple of months, it's finally almost April. The sun has decided to shine and the snow has melted. It's about time. The recording process is going to start in a couple weeks. In preparation I've written new songs, re-worked old ones, and even re-discovered songs I'd forgotten about. Gone got a major face-lift with the lyrics being entirely re-written. In prior posts, I've mentioned new songs that have been written that will most likely be featured on the second album. I'm still working with Ethan and Casey in our new group "still untitled as of now" and I have plans to start another project that I won't disclose yet. I'll wait for it to happen first. Adam Ortiz and I are still progressing forward with his album, it's going to be great, so start counting your pennies. This year will be the year that I reach all the dreams that began about 4 years ago. I'm even planning a One Eyed Seconds Box-Set, with old demos, test recordings, and potentially new recordings of older songs with the original cast, just to provide a little closure for the group.
3-2-09 I’ve written another song to add to the list. This one is entitled Julian, written on piano. This is the one of the few songs with a character name in my catalogue. It was a relatively quick and easy write and believe it to be one of my best yet. Anywho, as well as working on my own album, I am producing AMO’s album. When we are both done recording our albums we’re sending them out to be mass produced and packaged professionally. They’re even getting the poly wrap treatment. I’m not sure about Adam yet, but I know that I’m sending mine out to CD Baby and thus iTunes music store, Windows Media Store, and a ton of other online stores for your convenience. I’m still hoping to release two album this year and as long as my dear friend Andy McCoy’s studio remains available that should happen.
2-22-09 After the longest writers block in my musical history, I’ve finished two new songs and started a third. The first, started as a piano piece written in September that I couldn’t find fitting lyrics for. However a friend of mine James Trotter was saying something about Shadows that inspired some lyrics that fit. The song is called Shadows and features my good friend Adam Ortiz (AMO) spittin’ some fire as I sing this sad little piece. The second song was also inspired by a friend of mine. The music was written on acoustic guitar a few days before Aaron Tomassini gave me this picture he made, consisting of two feet walked down a sidewalk with a superimposed tree appearing to fit in the shoes. I wrote the song about what it would be like to walk in a tree’s shoes, watching everything around you change and yet you stay essentially the same. The music and melody were both inspired by the Beatles, as I’ve been listening to them a lot lately. The third piece, also written on acoustic guitar, is about being one of those guys in Venice that rows the boat and sings for the happy couple, but goes home alone. Just something I’ve thought about a few times. All three of these songs will make the second album, which I shouldn’t be talking about because I need to get the first one done, but as I said below, I’m trying to record two albums at once this April. And the project with Ethan Papaserge and Casey Love is moving along smoothly as we held a practice last weekend touching base on several songs we are hoping to play live at some point.
2-8-09 It has indeed been a while since the last update and I apologize for that, but the goods news that follows will surely make up for it. I have scheduled time at Infinity Studios this April to record Relics From The Past. Not only will it feature myself at piano and vocals, but also Andy McCoy on drums, Cody Keifer on bass, and Jon Smeltzer playing some sax on the beach. The recordings may feature some additional vocals by none other than Ethan P. Papaserge and some guest appearances from many other local musicians. Relics is a must, but I may also record a second album while I’m in there, but that’s all I can say about that one for now. I don’t want to promise something that won’t happen. Anyway, after nearly four years, I will finally release my full-length studio album this spring.
9-4-08 A lot is happening here during these studio takes. Many new songs are weeding their individual ways into the album. The takes are moderately well. Relics From The Past (song) is just about done. I’ve worked in many interesting and unplanned harmonies and strings into the solo in the middle of the piece and it sounds lovely. Some of the others lack however. What they lack is a nice drummer and talented bass player. I’m going to search through the community for some studio musicians to play these songs with me for the recording and maybe at some live events. If you’re interested just contact me. The album is still slated for release Fall/Winter 2008, but may get pushed back to find some talented musicians. Also, I am receiving a shipment of some relics from my very own past to share with you on the DVD featured with this album. A great collection of early One Eyed Seconds photos, recordings, and videos is coming my way, and thus your way. Further details will be announced upon my receiving of this wonderful treasure.
7-29-08 The recording for “Relics From The Past” has begun. No release date can be officially announced, though Fall/Winter 2008 seems likely. This will feature songs such as Cindy’s Five Leaf Clover, Little Miss Sunshine, Rain, and Nostalgia. The One Eyed Seconds tradition will be kept alive by Ethan and I, though we have parted ways. We still plan on collaborations and writing sessions, and playing live together, but we’re both in the process of recording solo albums. Because many songs have been written by both Ethan and myself, you may hear familiar songs from either of us such as Long Night In Jamestown, Shipped High In Transit, or maybe Lost, Embrace Your Fellow Man, and Untitled. All in all, we just want to release the music to you as soon as possible and we found that this will probably be the fastest way to do that. |
